This is a challenging but extremely rewarding hike. Mount Allan the Mountain that Nakiska Ski resort is on. Climbing up the side to reach the summit you are surround by amazing views of the mountains and valleys beside you. Mount Allan has an interesting landscape, from trees, to grassy meadows to large rock formations. This official trail has it all.

The Trailhead
From the Calgary, head down Highway 40, turn right at the Nakiska turn off. Turn left for the hotel and immediately turn right for the Ribbon Creek parking lot. The trail head has picnic tables, washrooms and garbage bins.

The hike
Follow signs for Centennial Ridge. This is an official trail so it is well marked. You begin in the trees following wide cross country ski paths. Eventually you make you way to a more narrow switched back path through the trees. Once you pop out in the meadow there will be no more trees. The hike continues steep switchbacks up the mountain side, the trail is well worn and easy to follow. You reach your first summit which is Olympic summit. This summit provides good views of the valley but is not Mount Allan. Continue on you will navigate through a large boulder field which had some very interesting rocks and marmots laying on top. You then get to the base of Allan. Patted down loose rock. Making it to the summit you can see to Canmore and the Highway 40 valley it is stunning.
